Lead Testing in School Drinking Water
In the spring of 2016, the Churchville-Chili Central School District contracted with ENVOY Environmental Consultants to begin voluntary testing of water quality in all of our buildings. This decision came after following concerns over lead in school drinking water in other areas of the state. The areas tested included: drinking fountains, food preparation areas, and consumable water spigots.
In September 2016, the State issued new regulations for the testing of drinking water, requiring districts to test additional water fixtures including hand-washing sinks and outdoor spigots.
The district is required to submit tests again in 2020 and then every five years after that.
